Authenticator: Optional Passcode / Touch ID / Face ID

Created on 9 May 2014  ·  11Comments  ·  Source: mattrubin/Authenticator

Several users have requested an optional lock screen requiring a PIN code to access the app. The simplest form would be entirely in the UI. A more complex version of this feature might use the PIN to encrypt the token data stored in the keychain.

@BrunoMiguens Thanks for the offer to help! @beaucollins opened a PR with a prototype of this feature almost a year ago, and unfortunately I just haven't had the time to review and integrate it. I've recently set aside some time to work on the project, and after the upcoming 2.1 release, this is the next feature I will be turning my attention to.

In the meantime, if you'd still like to contribute, you're welcome to take a look at the PR and offer any feedback or improvements you might have. More help is always appreciated!

I would really appreciate this, even if it is just a basic implementation. The issue I've had is where someone accidentally opened the app, then asked what 'Service XXX' and 'Service ABC' were, casually. The simple pin would be just a basic deterrent.

Edit: thanks for the clean and useful app, by the way!

Touch ID would be awesome!

I second the move for Touch ID integration.

Now that iOS 8 is released, I'll be adding Touch ID (with a fallback to system PIN/password) in version 1.2.

App looks great, just holding back until PIN / TouchID is ready.

Any update on when Touch ID will be added? This app is the best authenticator app I've found, and the only feature it's missing is Touch ID.

It's been almost a year since this issue was created, is there any update on the progress to add a PIN or more importantly, TouchID to this app?

Is Touch ID still in planning?

I'm very interested in this feature, if there's enough interest and the the owner of the repo aproves, I'm available to create the feature and open a PR to further validation.
