Hello! I recently came across this project and immediately downloaded and installed the mac app. I am very surprised that there is no a URL search bar.
Actually, I am a bit confused about this. I understand that Servo is a Browser Engine (not a browser by itself) but I feel that it is ironic that you cannot browse or do anything other than just navigating the default webpage (https://servo.org/). Or maybe I am missing something?
If this is by design. I hope you can consider adding a URL search bar for the default compiled app of Servo engine, that would help to get a quicker understanding of what it means to use Servo.
The URL bar was removed while we are redoing our UI embedding layer. It's possible to change the current page by pressing apple+L while that is the case.
Ctrl+L on Windows
Unfortunately the Ctrl+L prompt does not parse URL the same smart way Firefox does, so if you type news.ycombinator.com instead of https://news.ycombinator.com, you will be taken to a DDG RSP for HN as opposed to the actual HN website.
Also this is not discoverable at all, I understand UI polish (or a UI to begin with) is not a priority at all right now, but it would be cool if the home page was a local page which says to press Cmd/Ctrl+L to type a URL instead of the Servo project landing page.
