Yup, seemed to have been a server issue.

This is very likely introduced by https://github.com/WhisperSystems/Signal-Android/commit/d00441e20d4818200eb1e012488daf0e9ebe6b1b .
Unfortunately I won't have time to look into this until Sunday.

Can you try disabling network (airplane mode, check that Wifi is off too), then enter "Linked Devices" screen. You will get an error dialog. Enable network and press "Retry" or whatever the dialog offers instead of "Cancel". Maybe this could help. Nevertheless this needs to be fixed (or reverted for now) :/

@FeuRenard The dialog you mentioned ("Network connection failed...") also comes up if I just wait for a couple of minutes without disabling my network connection. _Try again_ just shows the same dialog again immediately.

Edit: worked now. May be due to the server problems some people are reporting currently, e.g. in #5754
